Almost mud implies a threshold— an approaching change of state from solid to liquid. One could see tension in this pending shift, but perhaps one could also see optimism. For example, the optimism required to try to save something before it is lost. Or, (even better) the ability to see that mud also has something precious to offer.


The artists in this exhibition share an investment in the material reality of the world and in figuring out what that means for the people living within it.


Almost Mud was planned by Concordia’s SCUL 310/410-C  Sculpture class. It was canceled in real life, but the threshold implied in its hardy title carried on, and it became this virtual version instead.
