Dounia Ravonel

The Mountain and Its Intimacy (2020) takes form in the graphite skin of a Mountain. When the action of covering a surface allows lines to emerge, the intimacy and memory find their presence in delicacy. Their union creates the presence of the Mountain, the immobile mass where grows the movement from Its inside. This piece was developed with a gestural repetition, still in search of the vivid, the vivid of the Mountain.

About the Artist

Dounia is a multidisciplinary artist who explores the relationship between body and space through drawing, installation, and movement practices. Born in Switzerland, she lives and studies in Montreal, where she moved to expand her researches on 'the sensitive' through the material and the body. Her main focus remains the sensitivity and the presence of the body as well as the world of the absurd. Her drawing and movement practices meet each other to create spaces of sensations. Influenced by Authentic Movement and Buto, her desire to look at what exists in its full potential of life leads the aesthetic of her work. She is looking for the vibration between the matters. She is looking for the vivid.
